We are saddened, yet joyful to learn that Dr. R.C. Sproul has gone to be with Christ, "which is far better." Surely, this great man of God will be deeply missed. We are thankful for how God has used this man to enrich the Church, and strengthen Christian families.

One of the richest legacies from Dr. Sproul’s life is how he passed on a deeply rooted faith and love for truth to his family and countless others around the world.

I remember my interview with Dr. Sproul ten years ago on the Generations Broadcast. We talked about another reformation in the Church for the 21st Century. R.C. expressed the importance of returning to a Holy and Reverent worship of God in an age of me-centric humanism and endless entertainments.

As the previous generation of great men of God go to their eternal rest, we ask...

"Who will take their place?"

The men God used to do some of His mightiest works during the darkest hours of the reformation, men like Wycliffe, Hus, Luther, Tyndale, Calvin, and many others, were men deeply rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

In this culture today, so spiritually starved, so morally bankrupt, and socially corrupted, will we see another reformation? As men like Dr. R.C. Sproul pass on, we pray for more great evangelists and teachers of the millennial generation, to rise up to take his place.

This will come by the work of the Holy Spirit, by faithful families that engage in family discipleship, and by faithful churches that are daily disciple-ing the next generation. It begins when we as parents will keep the Deuteronomy 6:6-9 mandate, to

• love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength
• to keep the commandments of God in our hearts
• and then teach these commandments as we walk with our children by the way, weaving the truth of God’s word into every situation of life.

Dr. Sproul understood the need for raising up the next generation to be “deep” in God’s word and so he wrote a collection of children’s books, designed to communicate the deep truths of God’s word in a simple and captivating way.
