Jimmy Carter has a "personal relationship with Jesus Christ," and he believes that "Jesus Christ would approve gay marriage." Lesson learned: the American liberal theology of the 20th century yielded the liberal politics of the 20th century. And, beware of pat religious phrases stuffed with the wrong theology.
