Rates of autism and social disabilities have increased by a thousandfold in the U.S. over the last thirty years. The Amish and undeveloped nations do not experience anything like this. Could social disabilities have something to do with the social environments that have been constructed over the last eighty years in the developed nations? We do not want to point at a single factor as the sole cause of these disturbing trends, but we do take a look at the shift in social environments that has happened. How do Rwanda and Uganda differ from the United States? Kids aren't raised in families much any more. Increasingly, people are living in institutions from womb to tomb. We also look at this brave experiment of sending our women into the workforce, well equipped with birth control devices, educational empowerment, and a self-oriented existentialist philosophy.
